Reports of cat being shot

Witnesses of a pet's disappearance are being urged to come forward after reports of it being tortured and shot.

Bartek

Bartek went missing from his home in Minsterley in June and his owners conducted daily searches, posted flyers and posters and placed wildlife cameras for local sightings.

They also employed Animal Search UK to promote on social media and to use their free phone 24-hour helpline for anyone who had information.

As well as sightings, seven people rang Animal Search anonymously to say that Bartek had been shot and tortured.

Since then the police and the RSPCA have been investigating.

Tracey Morgan, friend of the family, said: “Ideally we need those anonymous callers to contact the police, Bartek’s owners know that the police could request the call log from Animal Search themselves, however they would prefer anyone who felt able to get in contact, to do so.

"We are also aware there may be witnesses that have been too scared to say anything, we beg you to please come forward.

“We do have an idea who the alleged suspects are. It’s so important they are caught, not only so Bartek’s family can get some justice for him, but also to stop other animals being abused.

"This was a despicable act and we need to uncover who could do this to beautiful, innocent, Bartek.

“Bartek was just three years old, his owners rescued him when he was a kitten and doted on him. Heartbreak is not a big enough word to describe what they are going through."
