Man injured in armed attack at Shrewsbury hotel car park

A man was seriously injured when he was attacked by two armed men in Shrewsbury.

Police are now searching for the two attackers after the assault happened in the car park of the Travelodge at Dobbies roundabout off the A5.

The suspects were armed with a knife and a metal pole when they set upon the 41-year-old man at around 9.45pm on Friday.

The victim needed hospital treatment for cuts to his head and a serious injury to one of his fingers after he was punched and hit in the car park area near the hotel and Burger King. The metal pole is believed to have been a bicycle seatpost.

West Mercia Police is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The suspected attackers are both white men believed to be in their mid 20s.

The first is said to be around 5ft 6in tall with medium build, with blonde curly hair and is believed to have been wearing a tracksuit.

The second man is believed to have been wearing a baseball cap.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information that could help police with their enquiries is asked to contact Det Sgt Mat Crisp at West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 0837s of 17 July 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
