Two men are in custody and one is in hospital after a high speed police chase.

The pursuit was through Ceredigion and Powys in the early hours of this morning after reports of a number of thefts of power tools.

Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of power tools being stolen from a white van in Aberystwyth at about 12.15am today.

Reports of similar thefts came in from the Lampeter and Tregaron areas.

The suspects were located in Southgate but failed to stop for officers. A pursuit was authorised.

During the pursuit power tools were thrown out of the window into the path of police vehicles.

The vehicle came to a stop after losing control at a roundabout as it entered Newtown.

An 18-year-old man from Coventry and a 17-year-old from Tottenham have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police officer and theft.

Roads policing and response officers from Ceredigion and Powys were involved in the incident.

Three males were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. One remains in hospital.

No members of the public or police officers were hurt and no other vehicles were involved.
