Wellington attack leaves man seriously injured

An early morning attack left a man in his 30s with "serious facial injuries" according to police.

Officers have said they are now seeking a 'stocky' man in his mid 20s, who they believe carried out the assault in Wellington this morning.

Police were called to Church Street shortly after 3.30am, where the victim was found with what have been described as "serious facial injuries".

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Detective Inspector William Scott from Telford Police Station said: "A number of enquiries are currently ongoing and a scene guard is in place while officers investigate.

"This incident took place in a busy area of Wellington with a number of pubs and takeaways in the nearby vicinity, so there may be people who saw what happened. If anyone witnessed the offence, or has any information that could help, please call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident reference 111s of May 20, 2018."
