Shotgun shells discovery behind Telford police search

The discovery of shotgun shells in Telford was behind police sealing off land for a search, it has been revealed.

An area off Haybridge Roundabout and Crescent Road in Hadley was taped off while police officers carried out a search with two sniffer dogs.

It has now emerged that the search was sparked when an officer was handed a bag containing four shotgun shells.

The find was shown to the officer by a member of the public at around 5pm on Monday.

Nothing else was discovered during the search.

The cartridges have been taken away for examination by the police forensics team.

Officers are appealing for any information about the find and have asked anyone with knowledge of how the cartridges got there to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 556S of April 23.
