Members of the group Make Britain Great Again walked through Telford to the town’s police station, where they held placards and made speeches.

One member told the small crowd how the country has a ‘paedophile epidemic’ in Telford and Rochdale among others.

The protests have been sparked after recent revelations claimed up to 1,000 girls had been abused in Telford in recent years.

It has led to the forming of an independent local inquiry, as well as a visit by the Truth Project, which is part of the UK-wide Jay Inquiry.

A spokesman for Make Britain Great Again said: “There is a paedophile epidemic in this country and nothing seems to be done about it.

“We hate all paedophiles no matter what race or religion.”

The group claims to be ‘Britain’s patriotic news network’ and a voice of the people, and it has also protested outside BBC headquarters in the past.

Telford & Wrekin Ukip councillor Bill Gilmour joined the event on Saturday.

He reiterated calls for a full inquiry to establish the scale of the problem, of child sexual exploitation in the borough.

He said: “We are on a protest march to ensure we get a proper inquiry and to give voices to the victims in Telford.”

The march was far smaller than that held by members of Democratic Football Lads Alliance in March.

Members of the March event handed letters in to council offices and and police stations expressing concern on the issue of CSE in Telford. But they were met by 40 members of the Stand Up To Racism group, who said they were standing against the alliance’s ‘message of hate and division’.
