Scott Kerry, 23, admitted offences of being drunk and disorderly and possession of cannabis on February 5 when he appeared before magistrates.

Miss Amy Davies, prosecuting, told the court that officers went to Station Road, Wem, after receiving reports about the defendant.

She said: “It would appear that he tried to visit his stepbrother and after being turned away he shouted at him. This continued in the street where the defendant shouted and tried to start fights with passers-by. Due his demeanour when the officers arrived they arrested him.

“When he was searched at the police station the cannabis was found in his waistband.”

The court heard that unemployed Kerry, of Robert Jones Way, Battlefield, Shrewsbury, has previous convictions including robbery, shoplifting and public order matters.

Miss Kim Roberts, mitigating, said the drugs was worth £10 and for personal use.

She said Kerry was tackling his alcohol issues and his partner was due to give birth in September.

For possession of cannabis he was given a conditional discharge for 12 months, and for being drunk and disorderly there was no separate penalty.

He was ordered to pay costs £185 and a victim surcharge of £20. The magistrates also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
