Nichaela Elizabeth Cole, aged 26, formerly of Disserth View, Howey, near Llandrindod Wells, admitted assaulting Jonathan Green in the town on September 21, when she appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Prosecuting, Mr Stephen Davies said at about 9.50am on September 21 there was an incident at the Gwalia in Llandrindod Wells. Police were called and Pc Jones arrived to find Cole inside and Mr Green outside in a friend’s car.

Pc Jones said Cole was behaving aggressively and had to be told to keep quiet. Cole and Mr Green had previously been in a relationship.

The court was told Mr Green said he had gone to the Gwalia for a meeting and as he walked to the main entrance he saw Cole and she walked towards him and began shouting at him.

She was swearing at him and kept stepping in his way and getting up close in his face and swearing.

Staff from the Gwalia came out when Mr Green got there to see what was going on and a staff member asked him to return later.

As he walked back down Ithon Road he could sense someone behind him and then he felt a smack on the back of his head and saw Cole was immediately behind him, the court heard. The slap had been witnessed by a friend.

In interview, Cole said she could not remember hitting Mr Green but she said if she did she was sorry but she was angry at the time.

Defending, Mr Gareth Walters said Cole had given an early guilty plea and it was the only conviction on her record since 2008 when she was a juvenile. Mr Walters said they were at the Gwalia for a meeting and Cole became annoyed and angry when she saw him.

He added that said the assault was one slap across the back of the head causing a bit of pain, discomfort and ringing in his ear at the time but there was no lasting harm had been done.

Mr Walters said Cole, who works in a shop, had now moved to Dudley in the West Midlands, and has not seen Mr Green since September.

Cole was fined £165 and she was ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Magistrates said compensation and a restraining order would not be appropriate.
