Mohsin Salim was caught when his car was seen by police in The Rock area in May last year.

Drugs, scales, mobile phones and a quantity of cash were found in the vehicle, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

Passing sentence, Judge Peter Barrie told Salim officers had found all the 'tools of his trade' in the car and he was operating as a street dealer.

He said Salim, 24, was clearly part of a commercial supply chain and had played a significant role in the supply of Class A drugs.

Salim, of Crescent Road, Hadley, was jailed for two years and four months, having admitted various offences relating to the possession of cocaine, heroin and cannabis with intent to supply.

Also in the dock was 21-year-old Liam MacKenzie, who had been in Salim's car as a customer.

Judge Barrie accepted he was not part of the drug supply and imposed an 18-month community order which includes 60 hours unpaid work and a rehabilitation programme.

MacKenzie, of Dove Close, Hadley, had admitted possession of Class A drugs and cannabis.

The court heard that Salim's VW Golf was seen in The Rock area on May 6 last year and he was seen to pass items to MacKenzie who put them inside his trousers.

Mr Robert Edwards, prosecuting, said MacKenzie said he had cannabis in a rucksack which was for his own use, but when searched officers recovered five packages of heroin and 10 wraps of cannabis.

He said two blue bags containing 55 grams of cocaine with a 95 per cent purity were found in the car's glove compartment.

Salim was also found to have £400 in cash, scales and mobile phones in the car and following a strip-search officers recovered another 15 wraps of cocaine from his clothing.

Mr Edwards said that the drugs in Salim's possession had a potential street value of around £3,000.

The court heard that Salim had been put under pressure to deal drugs and that Mackenzie had only been in the car as a customer.

MacKenzie was said to be easily led and had been told to hide drugs in his clothing by Salim when the police approached and had expected to hand them back if the police passed by.

At an earlier hearing a confiscation order in the sum of £390 was made against Salim under Proceeds of Crime Act regulations.

His benefit from drug dealing was said to be £3,300, but he had no assets other than money recovered from his car.
