Three deny conspiracy to rob Newtown woman, 88

Three men today denied conspiracy to commit robbery after an 88-year-old Newtown was left with life-changing injuries in her own home.

Carl John Barrett, 50, of Dinas, Newtown; Keith Charles Grogan, 41, of Frolic Street, Newtown; and Jeffrey John Earp, 50, of Ceiriog, Newtown, were all charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in December, following the incident in June.

Today all three appeared via video link at Mold Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

All three pleaded not guilty and were remanded in custody until the trial which is to be held at Caernarfon Crown Court on June 11.

It is alleged they robbed the home of Mary Blanche Rowlands, at Upper Dolfor, Newtown, and left her with a broken arm and suspected broken cheek bone and hip.
