Staff said the theft is deeply upsetting.

Four or five offenders gained entry to the attraction through the Cheshire Cat Gift Shop, by tearing wooden panelling from one of the windows.

A spokesman for Wonderland said the thieves were inside the building for around 15 to 20 minutes, where they stole one till and destroyed another till.

They also stole two charity pots which had around £50 inside.

The attraction’s manager, Louisa Piller, said it was “deeply upsetting” that people would break into a children’s park.

CCTV footage from the shop shows the incident took place around 7pm on January 8.

Ms Piller said: “If anyone has any information of a group of males in their late teens around the Wonderland or Telford Town Park area at around 7pm on the night of Monday, January 8, then we would appreciate the information. Police have been informed and appropriate forensics were taken following the burglary.”

She added: “It is deeply upsetting that the individuals would break into our children’s park to destroy it – we value the safety of our park and have therefore hired security to deal with the situation.

“Please be aware that CCTV footage is in operation throughout our whole park and therefore we aim to find the individuals involved by co-operating with the police to solve this.”

Wonderland has not been operationally affected by the break-in, and will reopen to the public as planned on February 17.

Anyone with information about the incident at Wonderland is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 0093S of January 9. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org
