Darren Sloane, of Wigmore, Woodside, is accused of attempting to kill Tracey Cowan in November this year. He appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

Sloane also faces allegations of wounding with intent, theft of a kitchen knife and a mobile phone and being in possession of a knife in a public place.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place in Castlefields Way, Woodside, on November 8.

Judge Peter Barrie adjourned the case to allow updated psychiatric and medical reports to be prepared.

A plea and trial preparation hearing is due to go ahead at Stafford Crown Court on a date to be fixed and any trial will be heard on April 30 next year.

Sloane was remanded in custody.
