Shrewsbury woman, 30, accused of false rape claims

A Shrewsbury woman accused of falsely complaining that she was raped by several men has appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice

Anna Costin, 30, of Herongate, faced seven offences of committing a series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice in 2016 and 2017 when she appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The defendant, also known as Annelise Costin, spoke only to confirm her name and address.

The matter was committed to Shrewsbury Crown Court for a case management hearing on December 18.

She was granted unconditional bail until then.
