West Mercia Police says it is looking into reports from the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

A man in his 80s from Oswestry has been interviewed by police, following allegations made by a member of the public.

The man has now been barred from using any of the facilities at the hospital in Gobowen, on the outskirts of Oswestry.

The investigation relates to two separate incidents which allegedly happened on the site of the hospital between 2014 and 2016.

The man has been interviewed voluntarily by police and is continuing to help with their inquiries.

Pc Andrew Mayne, from the force, said: “West Mercia Police is investigating reports of two non-recent voyeurism offences by a member of public, reported to have happened at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital between July 2014 and November 2016.

“A man in his 80s from Oswestry has been voluntarily interviewed and is assisting police with their inquiries.”

The allegations were made by a woman who will remain anonymous. She claims that the incidents occurred over a significant period of time.

A spokesperson for the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has said that the man in question has been banned from using any of the facilities at the hospital.

It adds that it is fully co-operating with West Mercia Police in their investigation.

A spokeman said: “We are aware of the allegations and are of course fully cooperating with the police with their investigation. The man has been asked not to use our facilities while the investigation is ongoing.”

The hospital will not be making any further comment.
