Oswestry Safer Neighbourhoods Team, part of West Mercia Police, said people had been climbing on the roof of Llanymynech Village Hall.

Tiles have been removed and about £200 damage caused.

Shropshire Councillor for Llanymynech, Matt Lee, said the news was "frustrating" because lots of money is spent on youth provision in the village.

He added: "It's not the first time something like this has happened. It's frustrating really because we try to put stuff on for the youths but it's not working.

"There's the youth club which is well attended but that's clearly not stopping them so we need to see what else we can do, and that is something I'll be looking into now."

He is encouraging organisations, youth clubs and social enterprises to apply for funding from The St Oswald and Llanymynech Local Joint Committee (LJC), which has been been allocated £3,000 to support youth activity.

The LJC will be handing out grants of up to £500 an the deadline for applications is November 30.
