CCTV images released after Halloween-masked man attempted to rob Telford Co-op

Detectives have released CCTV images after an armed man wearing a Halloween mask attempted to rob a Co-op store in Telford.

The man approached the till area at the store in Priorslee Avenue, Priorslee, wearing the mask and carrying an imitation firearm.

It happened just before Halloween on October 28 at about 9.30pm.

The robber demanded money from a female member of staff before turning around and leaving the store empty-handed.

He left the area travelling through the car park in the direction of Lapwing Gate and Telford Town Centre.

Following the incident, a Co-op spokesman said: “There was an incident at our store in Priorslee Avenue, Telford, when an armed man entered at approximately 9.30pm. Fortunately no one was hurt during the attempted robbery."

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable Lizzi Waterworth of Telford CID said: "We would like to speak to the individual pictured as he was in the area at the time and may have important information about the incident.

"Anybody with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 817s of 28 October."
