Newtown teenager stabbed man in the back
A Mid Wales teenager has admitted stabbing another man in the back.
The 17-year-old from the Newtown area, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared in the dock at Mold Crown Court on Friday. He admitted that on September 27 he unlawfully wounded another man.
An alternative charge of wounding with intent was dropped.
The defendant also admitted attempting to wound another during the same incident.
Judge Niclas Parry rebailed the youth into the care of the local authority, pending sentence at the end of the month.
He ordered a pre-sentence report from the local youth justice service.
Prosecuting barrister Owen Edwards described it as a serious case.
He said police body cam footage showed the defendant immediately after the incident and he was clearly in an extremely intoxicated and emotional state.
The teenager, who had no previous convictions, was going between wanting to kill one of the victims and himself, said Mr Edwards. The defendant was aged 17 and had no previous convictions and it had been decided to accept his guilty pleas.
A previous charge of making a threat to kill was not proceeded with.
Judge Parry told the defendant that his guilty pleas would be reflected in the sentence that he would receive. But he said that he would have to prepare for custody.
