Heavy police presence at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after 'altercation' between group

There was a heavy police presence at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital this afternoon after an "altercation" between a group of people.

One witness said there were at least seven police cars outside the A&E this afternoon.

Paul Roberts, a spokesman for West Mercia police said: "Officers have been in attendance at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital this afternoon.

"There were reports of an altercation at 12.50pm between a group of people known to each other."

There have been no reports of injuries or arrests at this stage.
