Police in the town reported they had been having a busy Saturday evening, not helped by time wasting call to the emergency line.

In June 999 celebrated 80 years as the world’s oldest emergency service.

Over the years there have been many unnecessary 999 calls.

These included calls asking for the Mountain Rescue after getting stuck on the top bunk of a bed, a wedding dress not fitting anymore, and a takeaway costing £30 being delivered to the wrong address.
