Police investigate Shrewsbury sex assault claims

Police are investigating claims that a woman was sexually assaulted on a secluded footpath in Shrewsbury on the night of the Flower Show.

Officers from West Mercia Police are investigating reports of a sexual assault that is believed that have taken place on a footpath near the Pengwern Boathouse, Porthill, on Saturday night.

The assault was reported to have taken place at approximately 10pm when a woman was going to the toilet in a bush off to the side of the footpath.

The lady said that while she was urinating a man touched her buttock.

Police are attempting to locate witnesses and would like to request anyone who saw anything relating to this incident or anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to call West Mercia Police on 101 referencing incident 251S 130817.

Officers are keen to talk to three men who are reported to have been around the area at the time of the incident one of which is believed to have been blonde and wearing a red jacket.
