Woman's handbag snatched in Oswestry car park

A woman had her handbag snatched before she was pushed into a fence in Oswestry.

West Mercia Police are appealing for information to the theft that took place on Sunday at 5.10pm near Oak Street car park.

Officers said that the elderly woman was walking home when she was approached by the assailant who demanded money from her.

The robber then stole a handbag from the woman and pushed her into a metal fence.

After taking the bag he ran on to Lorne Street, along Prince Street and towards Castle Street.

The man is described as white, tall but under 6ft, with a large build and with a local accent.

He is believed to have been wearing a brown long-sleeved top.

Anyone who saw the incident or who has information should contact West Mercia Police on 101 referencing incident 521 of August 13.
