A month has passed since Blanche Rowlands was brutally attacked, leaving her with face and arm injuries.

The victim spent time in hospital after the attack but has been back at home recovering.

New scans have revealed bad news about the significant arm injuries she suffered, and her family today made a fresh appeal for information.

It comes after three men were arrested and released on bail for the burglary in Dolfor Road, Newtown, on June 19,

Her nephew, Mervyn Lloyd-Jones said: “Last week she went in and we found out there was no shoulder socket – it has been smashed and with her age there is nothing they can do for it.

"She is still having problems with her elbow, and she is having physio on it. She is putting on a brave face.”

Mr Lloyd-Jones is adamant somebody in the Newtown area has information that will lead to a prosecution.

He said: “We just want something to happen, somebody in Newtown and the area knows something that will help the police. We are urging that person or people to help and come forward to help the police.

"The people who did this are hooligans and we don’t want it to happen to anyone else.”

Alana Perrin, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said: “The investigation is ongoing. The three men arrested remain on bail.”

Despite the frustration, the family have expressed their thanks for the support from the local area, and the NHS treatment Blanche, who last week turned 89, has received.

Mr Lloyd-Jones added: “We cannot thank people enough. We have had so many flowers brought, the neighbours have been brilliant and everyone has been leaving their numbers to get in touch if we need them.”

Hospital staff have been first class. We couldn’t be happier with the treatment.”
