Mark Williams, of Little Minsterley, Shrewsbury, assaulted his victim in two different incidents, and also damaged her sofa, a kitchen window and two doors.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced at Welshpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Magistrates heard how Williams, 42, first assaulted the woman in front of children in Forden, near Welshpool, on March 28, 2017.

He was given 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months, with magistrates saying the incident was in a domestic setting and was fuelled by the excess consumption of alcohol.

In April he damaged a kitchen window, and was given a 12-week suspended sentence to run concurrently.

On June 26, Monday, he assaulted his victim again and damaged two doors in the home.

For the assault, he was given a 16-week suspended sentence to run concurrently, and 12 weeks for the criminal damage which will also run concurrently.

The offences also put him in breach of a conditional discharge.

He was also fined £180, made to pay costs of £170 and a £145 victim surcharge.
