Rhys Davies, 27, of Tregynon, denied causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared before Welshpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 18.

The charge related to an incident on October 8 last year, when Davies was involved in a four-vehicle collision, which also involved Matthew Bennett on the A470 at Caersws.

Mr Bennett, from Llanidloes, was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after suffering serious injuries in the crash, but later died in hospital.

Davies denied the charge put to him on Tuesday and he will now appear before Mold Crown Court on August 8.

Following Mr Bennett’s death, tributes were paid describing him as a "gentle giant".
