Funeral date set for Halfway House cafe murder victim

A funeral will be held this weekend for murder victim Satnam Singh Blugher.

The 67-year-old, known locally as "Mr B" was found with serious injuries at Tony's Diner on the A458 at Halfway House, near Shrewsbury, at the end of June.

Mr Blugher, Originally from Coventry, had run the diner for a number of years and his family are now encouraging as many people as possible that knew him to attend the service.

The funeral will be held at 9.30am on Saturday at Canley Crematorium, followed by a service at Harnall Lane Gurdwara, both in Coventry.

Bal Blugher, the daughter of Mr Blugher's son Harry, said: "Because he had the business for 15 years, he saw lots of customers and knows people from across the West Midlands and Wales.

"We want as many people to be able to come and say their goodbyes to him."

Mrs Blugher said that anyone who knew her father-in-law and wished to attend would be asked to wear black and bring a headscarf for the service at the temple.

She said: "We would also like to thank the community for their support at this difficult time. Everyone has been very supportive."

Mr Blugher's family have said he was a big Manchester United fan and dedicated family man.

A man appeared at Stafford Crown Court on July 3 charged with Mr Blugher’s murder.

Belkar Singh, 58, of Booth Street, Birmingham, will next appear before the court on September 15.
