Telford Shopping Centre has taken all of its bins out of use, while they were temporarily removed from Shrewsbury's Darwin, Pride Hill, and Riverside centres when the threat level was at critical.

Kevin Lockwood, the manager of Shrewsbury centres, said: "When the national risk went up to critical we removed the bins.

"Now that the threat level has gone back down, they are back but limited. Most shopping centres have this sort of plan in place."

The bins were removed at Telford Shopping Centre and have not yet been replaced. Management at the centre refused to comment.

Security was ramped up in Shrewsbury and Telford following the terror attack in Manchester, which saw 23 dead after a bomb went off outside an Ariana Grande concert. Armed police officers attended events in both towns.
