Telford shops blighted by burglars
Shopkeepers in Telford are on high alert after three businesses were targeted in a spate of burglaries and vandalism attacks.
Owners of a tattoo shop in Madeley, Telford, have become the latest victims of a crime spree in the area.
Savage UK Ink & Apparel, off Park Avenue, was broken into at some point between Sunday evening and yesterday morning – the shop's second break-in over the past week.
In the latest incident, would-be burglars smashed through the external door before ransacking the shop, but left empty-handed.
Liv Shakespeare, who owns the tattoo shop, discovered the break-in. The 25-year-old, of Madeley, said: "They turned the place upside down but they didn't get away with anything. I think they were looking for money as the same thing happened a week ago, they found £40 and took that.
"The first time it happened it cost £130 to replace the window in the door so it's probably going to cost the same to get it fixed.
"It makes me angry, disappointed and it puts you on edge. You don't know whether they will come back." Floral Creations and Mrs Russell's Sweets and Treats, near to the tattoo shop, have also been targeted in recent weeks.
Burglars smashed through a glass door panel to gain access to Floral Creations between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
They took a till with £30 in and it cost £160 to repair the damage.
Vandals also smashed the door and window of Mrs Russell's Sweets and Treats shop in recent months.
It prompted owner Carol Russell to fork out more than £1,000 for roller shutters to improve security.
