A "dangerous" man who has a "preoccupation with rape" has failed to get his jail term for brutally attacking two women cut by top judges.

Oliver Dayman, 39, of Nant Glas, Llandrindod Wells, was jailed for 14 years at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on December 22 last year.

He was ordered to serve an extra six years on licence following his release after the judge condemned him as a "danger to the public".

Dayman held down and raped a woman in the 1990s, Mr Justice Dingemans told London's Appeal Court today.

He later butted a second victim, also raping and molesting her in a separate incident.

Dayman admitted two rapes, two assaults and one assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He suffers from bipolar affective disorder, the court heard.

A probation officer's report told how he had developed a "preoccupation with rape" and was an "ongoing risk to the public".

Byron Broadstock, for Dayman, argued his jail term was too long and he should not have been labelled dangerous.

But Mr Justice Dingemans, sitting with Lord Justice Hamblen and Mr Justice Irwin, said there was "no force in the complaint".
