Martyn Emery, 22, attempted to make a break for it from the garden shed at a home in Hayes Road in Wellington.

But the woman jumped on his back to restrain him, and although Emery got away he was chased down an alleyway by another woman and apprehended.

Emery, of Bayley Road in Arleston, Telford, admitted a charge of burglary in connection with the incident on June 19 when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

Mr Robert Edwards, prosecuting, told the court that the woman who found Emery had checked the shed the previous morning after finding the door open.

He said: "On June 18 at about 6am the occupier went downstairs and saw the shed door was open.

"She peered into the shed and everything seemed okay.

"A new padlock was fixed. At 5am the following day she saw that the door was open again. It was clear that someone had been inside and a toolbox had been opened.

"As she opened the door a person with a balaclava ran out carrying a metal object.

"He was challenged and restrained by being jumped on his back."

Emery eventually broke free of the woman but was chased up an alleyway by another woman in the house and eventually stopped, Mr Edwards said.

Emery was recognised when his balaclava was removed, Mr Edwards said.

Mr Mark Sharman, for Emery, said his client had drug problems.

Emery was given a 12 month community order and ordered to undertaken drug tests for six months.
