Once more the Shropshire Star is joining forces with Enterprise Flex-E-Rent to give out £20,000 to good causes across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

This year the money will be shared out among 35 charities, clubs and voluntary organisations.

Kelda, now back in Shropshire after becoming the first adaptive athlete to row solo across the ocean, spoke about how the fund had helped her Climbing Out charity.

Climbing Out, founded by Kelda in 2010, provides outdoor activity courses to help young people who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses to help them regain their self-esteem.

The charity took part in Cash For Your Community in 2015, 16 and 17, receiving a total of £1,591.

She said: "The charity doesn't happen without the funding to run it, so the money we received from Cash For Your Community was very welcome in supporting our work."

Shropshire Star readers will decide how this year's money will be shared out by collecting tokens in the newspaper for their favourite causes.

Tokens are printed in the newspaper each day, and the group that collects the most tokens will receive £5,000.

The organisation with the second most tokens will take £2,000, and the one in third place will receive a £1,000.

The other organisations will receive a share of the remaining £12,000 depending on the number of tokens collected.

Kelda, 46, from Shrewsbury, was at sea for 76 days after departing from La Gomera in the Canary Islands in December.

She arrived in Antigua during the early hours of Wednesday last week.

Her expedition has so far raised £33,000 towards a target of £50,000 for the charity.
