Some of the region’s leading specialists on planning issues will pass on their expertise at a special event in Telford.

The experts from Telford-based development consultancy apT’s conservation, ecology and healthy spaces teams will take centre stage at the free event for construction sector companies in Oakengates on Thursday.

Siobhan Martin, business manager at apT, which is a part of Telford & Wrekin Council, said the experts could help developers save time and money on projects – and stay the right side of building and planning regulations.

“If you don’t know what ecology surveys you need when planning for your development, or what rules govern a conservation area or listed building, or if you are a developer looking for expert advice on designing and installing recreational facilities, this event is just for you.

“As protecting our natural and built environment is moving up everyone’s agenda, it is important that your project is legally compliant. Come and talk to our ecology and built heritage specialists and find out the full range of services we can deliver to help you.

“Our healthy spaces officer will also be on hand to talk you through how he can help you with the provision of recreational facilities, including the design and installation as well as funding opportunities.”

Specialists due to pass on some of their expert knowledge include Mark Latham and Fran Lancaster from ecology, Penny McKnight and Ben Williscroft talking about conservation and health spaces specialist Derek Owen.

The event – which gets under way at 8am at the Wakes in Oakengates not only offers the opportunity to learn more about how and why this work is carried out and the positive impact it has but also an excellent chance to network with apT officers and colleagues from the construction industry, Siobhan added.

“Our passionate team of specialists will be delighted to talk with you and their expertise and experience will enhance and improve your journey through the planning process. Our regulatory knowledge and positive attitude means we will save you time and money.”
