Mitchell Smith, who developed a skill for buying and selling, has started up Smiths Auctions, selling a wide range of goods – from antiques, collectables, china, glass, pictures, gold and silver jewellery, watches and clocks, modern and period furniture and a whole lot more.

The online-only auction was set up about three months ago and Mitchell, who has a base at a warehouse at Parkside Business Centre in Boningale is hoping to expand and, at some stage, hold a physical auction.

“The business is still really fresh so it’s been a learning curve but I have got there and it’s going quite well so far,” said Mitchell.

“It’s a challenging time to launch a new business but I wanted to try. I thought I’d give it a go and hopefully it will grow. It’s something I love. I have been buying and selling for six years, having started off on a building site as a sparky (electrician).
