A compulsory purchase order has been made to clear the site near the Flaxmill Maltings to make way for a housing development that helps the tourist attraction.

The Planning Inspectorate has given the green light to the process and Shropshire Council confirmed that it will go ahead.

A notice confirming that the order has been made is being served on affected landowners and interested parties, and was placed in the Shropshire Star's public notices section on Thursday.

Planning permission had been given to Historic England for a mixed use development on the Spring Gardens site. It includes new housing and commercial, business and service uses.
