The Telford-based company, which now employs more than 30 people at its base in Tweedale, is an innovator of light and indulgent, low calorie meringue confections.

The family business is run by husband-and-wife duo Brian and Leanne Crowther, and has just relaunched its range in newly branded packaging.

The new apprentice is due to start with the company in March, and the team expect several more to follow.

Leanne said: “Flower & White has offered apprenticeships for many years with the aim to introduce new talent and energy into their thriving team.

“Positions have been offered in all areas of the company, including the bakery, finance and analytics.

“The aim is to inspire positivity in everyone they meet and with young people being so badly impacted this year – this mission has never been more important.

“We are working with Telford College – they’ve found us a fantastic new apprentice, we’re looking for another young person to join us, and we will continue to look for apprentices with them as we move forward.

“We want to be able to contribute in a meaningful way, and as a local business, to help young people, and support the community is extremely important to us.”

Liam Jones was the first of the company’s apprentices, having joined the business in the early days. He started his apprenticeship in the packing department but has since progressed to overseeing a team of bakers in production.

Leanne said: “Flower & White are delighted to take on their next apprentice, in partnership with Ladder for Shropshire and Telford College.

“They will be supporting the business in an operations and analytics role, and within the warehouse and packing environment.

“Like with all positions at Flower & White, it will be a varied and enjoyable role, perfect for mentoring a young person into a future employee.

By nurturing their members of staff from a young age, Flower & White says it is able to discover where their strengths and skills lie, often adapting the role and helping to develop them into an invaluable member of the team.

The company’s product range contains no additives or E-numbers, just all-natural deliciousness. Their award-winning meringue products are also gluten free and vegetarian.

It has new innovations constantly in development, and the team are passionate about great tasting, ethically minded products using better, naturally grown ingredients.

Telford College has a busy programme of activities lined up during National Apprenticeships Week, including webinars and facebook live sessions. Details can be found at www.telfordcollege.ac.uk/naw2021
