The Shropshire Star Great Big Thank You Awards 2019 are being officially launched next week.

Now our commercial team are busy partnering with local businesses who wish to shine a spotlight on one of their employees or colleagues who give over and above to help bind our communities together and nominate them with a chance to win our brand new Employer Recognition Award.

Do any of your employees volunteer, run a local sporting club, give a helping hand to others in need? If so, then we want to hear from you!

For further details and how to nominate one of your employees or colleagues, please email or

The ambition of the Great Big Thank You Awards is to create a significant community event – something that celebrates the local area in a way that would involve as many of our readers, customers and staff who want to participate. Celebrating everyone from grandparents and neighbours to community champions and teachers, the awards’ aim is to mark some of the wonderful day-to-day activities and achievements of our local readers.

It will be split into different categories, each one of them celebrating the very essence of local life.

In order to keep the community at the heart of the awards, our readers will be asked to nominate potential winners and be involved in the voting, via the newspaper and online. The Shropshire Star aims to team up with an exclusive group of local businesses who will each become official partners for different categories or nominate one of their own.

Shropshire is a wonderful place to live and that is due in no small part, to the wonderful people in our community. It is now time to give these people a well-deserved thankyou and we very much hope you will take this opportunity to help us celebrate once again at the Great Big Thank You Awards 2019.

We are fortunate at the Shropshire Star to be in a position to have the prominence, reach and influence to bring all this together and then ask our readers to nominate and vote for their local heroes.

Over the campaign we will feature the nominees and their stories and promote involvement in this exciting event.

The awards and recognition afternoon will be held at the Hadley Park Hotel in Telford in September and will be a heart-warming afternoon of celebration and recognition of the winners and other nominees.
