A drive-through Starbucks coffee shop could be added to Telford Bridge Retail park, if plans are approved.

The proposed outlet could create 18 full-time jobs, but would also mean the loss of 30 parking spaces, according to the application documents.

The site for the planned 167-square-metre store is between the exisiting Pizza Hut, off Colliers Way and the nearby roundabout, on the eastern edge of the retail park.

The plans, submitted by Telford Bridge Property Ltd, will be considered by Lawley and Overdale Parish Council and Telford and Wrekin Council at a later date.

A design statement, submitted on behalf of the company by Alan Powell from the Leeds-based consultancy Den Architecture, says: “The site is currently located within the Telford Bridge Retail Park and adjacent to the main vehicular access into the park from Colliers Way.

“The site comprises existing car parking spaces and an area of low-level shrub planting.

“The proposed building sits within the centre of the site with a one-way drive-through lane routed around it.”

The application form states there are currently 39 parking spaces on the site, of which nine will remain after construction.

He adds that customers will still have “full access to the parking spaces within the wider retail park”.

Application documents say the new cafe, if approved, would create 18 full-time jobs and would trade from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week.

As well as the parish and borough councils, the occupiers of neighbouring units on Telford Bridge Retail Park and the three councillors for the Ketley and Overdale ward will also be consulted.
