Shrewsbury mayor supports new business venture

The Mayor of Shrewsbury has shown his support to a new business venture by cutting the ribbon.

Councillor Peter Nutting was also joined by town crier Martin Wood for the opening of BEW in Shrewsbury.

The national electrical wholesaler wanted to open a new branch and has transformed an old building in Longden Coleham.

The premises now features a contemporary trade counter, modern offices and plenty of storage.

Councillor Nutting said its his mission as mayor to support new businesses in Shrewsbury.

"As the previous owner of a sports shop in Shrewsbury, I understand the difficulties faced by small businesses, so when I was invited to open a new local branch for BEW Electrical Distributors, I was delighted to offer my support," he added.

"It was a real honour to cut the ribbon and welcome a BEW branch to Shrewsbury’s map."

The event, which featured demonstrations from a range of local companies, was hosted by Dan Wornell and Will Pablos who said it was a huge success.

BEW has 20 other branches around the country, including Telford.
