There has been much speculation over the last few weeks after the town centre store featured notices in its windows warning people that the store was closing, subject to ongoing negotiations.

But the store, which is located in the Pride Hill Centre, is now busy gearing up for the final days running up to Christmas.

Kevin Lockwood, Shrewsbury shopping centres manager, said: “We’ve been working closely with the store over the last few weeks and we’re delighted that they’ve decided to stay within Pride Hill Centre.

“The store is an important part of the centre’s offer and we wish them the very best.”

Peacocks is a part of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill group and has more than 6,000 staff across the UK.
