The chain said it will fill around 100 posts in total when its new site in Rampart Way is completed and its branch in Wrekin Retail Park, in Whitchurch Drive has had a major refit.

Russ Smith, Managing Director at Gastronomy Restaurants, which operates both sites, said: “We’re due to open a brand new restaurant in Rampart Way on November 27 this year and we are giving our Wrekin Retail Park restaurant a refresh.

“The two projects will create 80 new jobs in the local area with around 20 more new posts being filled by our team members working in Telford at the moment.”

“We’re biased, but we reckon there’s nothing better than a fresh, shiny, new KFC restaurant – so we’ve decided to close our Wrekin Retail Park restaurant for a bit of a refresh.

“It won’t just be a 60-minute makeover though. We’re planning to reopen in early December. We promise it’ll be well worth the wait.”

The company has told Telford & Wrekin Council’s planning unit that it wants to enhance the appearance of the building to bring it in line with current “KFC specification”.

The company said potential workers should check out its website for updates on the careers page for future opportunities

Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for economic development Councillor Lee Carter said: “The creation of these jobs is brilliant news for Telford and means more inward investment in the retail sector.

“It is good for the borough’s economy and means another existing business has been able to expand.”
