Farmers supplying the firm, which has a large site in Market Drayton, will see their milk price increase by an additional 1.25 pence per litre from July 1.

The move takes the Müller Direct standard litre price to 28 pence per litre, reflecting a strengthening in returns from wholesale cream and butter markets.

The announcement follows a 0.75ppl increase in June.

Rob Hutchison, Müller's milk supply director said: "Market returns are continuing to improve after a challenging period, and we are pleased to reflect this in higher milk prices.

"Whilst global market volatility will remain a constant factor going forward, Müller Direct farmers are embracing the range of tools we are offering which are designed to help them manage milk price volatility.

"In practical terms our farmers now have the means by which they can continue to benefit from upsides in the farm gate milk market but they are now far better protected from the downturns thanks to innovations like the Müller Direct Fixed Price Contract and the Futures Contract option.

"Going forward, we intend to continue to develop innovative solutions which support our supply chain."

Meanwhile, Commonwealth Games and World Indoor Championship gold medallist Katarina Johnson-Thompson has been confirmed as a Müller brand ambassador.

Joining existing Müller Corner brand ambassadors Dina Asher-Smith and Müller Rice brand ambassador Adam Gemili, the dairy company has also welcomed athletes Andrew Pozzi, Kadeena Cox MBE, Martyn Rooney, Hannah Cockroft MBE, Laura Sugar, Vanessa Wallace and Brian Gregan to the firm.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson said: "I've grown up with athletics and Müller yogurts so I'm really excited to work with such a fun brand that not only makes great products, but is also helping to raise the profile of our sport.

"I'm really looking forward to helping Müller encourage people to have fun by giving athletics a try. I'm lucky that this is something I try to do every day!"
