Jordan took her senior journalist qualification exams in March and recently received the results.

Not only had Jordan, 23, passed, but she also won an award for best interview and a £250 prize from the Society of Editors.

She said: “I was so happy to find out I’d passed my NQJ. I didn’t even think I’d stand a chance at getting an award, so I was very shocked.”

Shropshire Star editor Martin Wright said: “Jordan is a hugely-talented journalist.

“Her progress since she joined the team as a trainee has been extremely rapid.

“I am delighted that she has passed her NQJ at the first time of asking – which is certainly no mean feat.

“And to then be named as the best in the country for her news interview is the icing on the cake.

“I am sure she has a great career in journalism ahead of her.”

Editorial trainer Crispin Clark said: “I am delighted for Jordan.

“She worked really hard for this exam as she has done ever since she joined the paper. She really deserves this accolade.”
