Bosses at CML F&L, based at Brockton Business Park, Halesfield, want to build 11 loading bays and create a new service yard for the chilled food and warehousing hub.

The firm which hopes to create 15 new jobs also wants to knock down a two-storey office block, make alterations to the existing cold storage building and install three portable huts as part of the revamp.

The company which is part of the food distribution group Culina has submitted proposals for the redevelopment.

A report to Telford & Wrekin Council from CML's architect Tim Wilson stated that the new mobile buildings would be connected to existing services at the site.

"These are a temporary measure put in place to house staff from the demolished two-storey offices. The duration of these being in place is not known exactly at present, but is not likely to exceed 12 months pending the acquisition of the adjacent site to the north which is currently occupied by Travelworld.

"The only proposed retaining walls are to the new loading docks 1200mm high at the new building face and either side of the ramp these will taper from approximately 1350mm high to 300mm against the new building and will be formed in concrete precast or in situ depending on contractors proposals." the report stated.

Management buy-out

It added that protected trees on the site will not be affected by the project.

An initial planning application lodged last year said the firm expected to create 15 jobs.

In 2014 CML which offers transport and warehousing services, struck an agreement with food supplier Culina Group. It was subject to a management buy-out in January 2009.

A decision on the proposals will be dealt with Telford & Wrekin Council under delegated powers.

Culina Group, a logistics market leader for food and drink companies, recently announced a deal with baked food supplier Warrens Group.

The group said the move follows last year’s joint venture with Morgan McLernon and the purchase of remaining shares in CML Fulfillment.

Culina' chief executive Thomas van Mourik said: “This joint venture with Warrens Group means we are now market leader in the UK in the baked goods niche.

The group supplies chains including Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
