Shropshire Star appoints new business and farming editor
The Shropshire Star has a new business and farming editor.
James Pugh has replaced Thom Kennedy in the role.
James, 32, who was born and brought up in Shrewsbury, has been with the company for 10 years and has most recently been chief reporter covering north Shropshire.
He said: "I have learned a lot in my time reporting general news for the paper and am now looking forward to my new role.
"Thom has done an excellent job and I hope I can use my experience to ensure I make a success of reporting on the business and farming community in Shropshire and Mid Wales."
Thom has been business and farming editor of the Shropshire Star since January 2011, but has now stepped aside to work on a new project within the same company.
He said: "I'm so grateful to the diverse, dynamic and innovative business community of Shropshire for the help, support, and friendship they have shown me over the last seven years.
"I have learned so much from being in this position, and I hope that I have represented businesspeople and the farming community in this county fairly and accurately during my time as business and farming editor.
"I wouldn't be leaving this role for anything less than a big opportunity, and the project I am embarking on is a hugely exciting one. I can't wait to be able to share the details with people in 2018.
"James is a very experienced and capable journalist who I know is the perfect choice to take over the role, and I'm sure that everybody in the business and farming communities will welcome him with the same warmth and goodwill that I received."
