Fifty new jobs as Telford manufacturer expands
Shropshire prototyping specialist Proto Labs is to create 50 jobs at its Telford factory following investment at the site.
The company, which already has 360 employees at its UK headquarters at Halesfield, is now expanding again.

General manager Lee Ball said: “A business like ours, which stems from innovative foundations, needs quality teams to continually evolve.
"With our growth trajectory, we are aiming to boost our workforce to help drive the business forward; engineers and designers, and those equipped with STEM qualifications are essential for what we do.

Investing in and developing skilled employees is vital to us; particularly as we need specialist expertise to operate our machinery and fulfil our manufacturing processes.”
The company has invested significantly in its Telford operations this year, including buying six new moulding machines and 26 CNC machines for its factory. It was also revealed in July that the company had put £3.6 million into infrastructure at the site.
The company helps with the development of prototypes using a variety of manufacturing methods.
Products coming to market with help from Proto Labs this year have included a self-warming ice cream scoop and butter knife, a bike rack which can be fitted to any car, a camera kit to help people put their equipment close to nesting birds, and a system for complex food safety tests.
HR manager Josie Plant said: "These vacancies are opportunities to build a successful, long term career at Proto Labs.
