In a trading update the Stafford Park manufacturer said its revenue and profits were clocking in around 25 per cent higher than this time last year.

The performance has seen the company gnaw away at its competitors sales, with its share of the UK market – particularly for LED lighting – on the increase.

It has also been supported by a strong performance in its newer international markets in America and continental Europe.

The performance sees Luceco maintain the momentum which saw it deliver a 29.8 per cent jump in sales in 2016 – a year in which the company's flotation on the London Stock Exchange.

In a statement to the market, Luceco said: "The momentum reported at the time of group's annual general meeting on May 25 has continued and will see first half revenue and operating profit growth of circa 25 per cent.

"This growth has been driven by market share gains in the UK (particularly LED lighting) alongside a strong performance in the newer international markets of the Americas and continental Europe.

"A full order book underpins the Board's confidence in meeting market expectations for the full year, with the key autumn trading period still to come."

The company was rebranded as Luceco in 2015, and includes three key brands – British General, Masterplug and Luceco LED.

Luceco has its UK sales base on Stafford Park in Telford, where it employs 200 people at a 110,000 sq ft site.

Last year the company notched up sales of £133.8 million, with profits of £15 million.

In May, the company was named on the 1,000 Companies To Inspire Britain report, which is compiled annually by the London Stock Exchange, and identifies the UK’s fastest-growing and “most dynamic” SMEs.
