Karl Thompson, who has lived in Bridgnorth all his life, has been writing since he was a teen.

The 35-year-old, who went to Bridgnorth Endowed School in the town, said: “By day I am a paramedic for the West Midlands Ambulance Service, based at Donnington Ambulance Station.
“I started writing when I was about 13 after watching the first Lord of the Rings movie back in early 2002 and wanting to make my own stories and worlds.
“It wasn't until about 2012 I really starting taking my writing seriously, however.
“The novel stemmed from the question, what would happen if the devil were released from hell?
“A group of unlikely allies learn of a plot to do just this, and they must band together and overcome their differences as they hunt the magic keys that unlock the Gates of Inferno before the evil Champions of the Just can release the God of Chaos and wreath the world in the fires of inferno.”
He said his novel, written under the pen name K R Thompson, is called Rise of the Ancient One, and has now been published on Amazon in both eBook and paperback format.
And he is now working on its sequel: The Glass Sands of Ekkhe.
