Pedestrian hospitalised after being hit by bus in Telford - enquiries on-going

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital and received trauma care after a bus collided with them and garden railings.

A bus crashing into a group of pedestrians on Lightmoor Way, Telford.

Emergency services were called to Lightmoor Way at around 10.30am on Thursday after receiving reports of a road traffic collision.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said enquires are on-going after a bus collided with a pedestrian who was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service incident log states the single decker bus collided with garden railings.

Two fire crews were sent from Much Wenlock and Telford Central fire stations to the scene. An operations officer also attended.

Firefighters made the vehicle safe and the incident concluded at 11.02am.

A West Mercia Police statement said: "We received a call around 10.30am this morning (December 12) with a report of a road traffic collision on Lightmoor Way, Telford.

"Officers arrived to find a bus had collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"The circumstances are yet to be established and enquiries are ongoing."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival crews found a woman who was the pedestrian.

"She was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially serious injuries. She received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene.

“She was conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital under emergency blue light conditions with medics travelling on board for continued treatment en route.

"No persons from the bus required treatment.”
