Albanian Redon Veise, who lives in Telford, was caught near a service station on the M1 in Sheffield with three boxes and a bag full of drugs as well as a baseball bat, a BB gun and £1,430 in cash.

Shrewsbury Crown Court sitting at Telford Justice Centre was told how police on patrol at around 7.30pm on August 3 this year spotted a car being driven by Veise that had been involved in “suspicious activity” the previous day.

Officers stopped the vehicle near the Woodall service station, where they discovered the cash, weapons and cannabis weighing a combined 11.5kg with a street value of up to £116,000.

The prosecution accepted Veise’s plea basis that he acted as a “courier”, meaning that he was not at the very top of a drugs chain and benefiting the most financially.
