Ageing horse back on its hooves again thanks to fire service in Bridgnorth

An ageing horse that was unable to get back on its feet, has been rescued by the fire service.

The fire service were called when the 28-year-old horse in a field in Oldfield, Bridgnorth was unable to stand on its own.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said a vet was called while a crew from Wellington used farm machinery to roll and lift the horse onto its feet.

A spokesperson said they were called at 11.55am on Monday.

They said: “Crews located a 28yr old horse in a field unable to stand for a long period of time.

“With assistance of the vet and specialist crews from Wellington, crew utilised farm machinery to roll and lift the horse onto its feet.

“Once back on its feet, the horse soon rejoined friends happily.”
