Joseph Speers, aged 25, got mixed up in dealing on the streets of Shrewsbury while homeless.

Shrewsbury Crown Court was told that police officers on patrol in Ditherington saw Speers carrying out what appeared to be a drug deal at around 12.50pm on June 14, 2021.

Speers fled the scene but officers chased after him and arrested him. He had a lock knife, three mobile phones and £125 in cash on him at the time.

He was taken into custody where he was strip-searched, and found to have 46 wraps of heroin and one of crack cocaine concealed “within his bum cheeks”, prosecutor Mark Karpinski told the court.

The drugs, weighing 6.899 grams, would fetch up to £600 on the streets, Mr Karpinski said.

A search warrant was executed at Speers’ home address and officers discovered more mobile phones, scales and other items related to drug dealing.
